  • Albert Heijn (former Lindeman Elandsgracht, Amsterdam)
Albert Heijn is one of the largest national supermarket chains in Amsterdam offering many A-type brands. The Albert Heijn on the Elandsracht is a very special one, since it offers a slightly different assortment including fresh herbs, halal section, many AH Excellent products during holidays, and a large choice of foreign cheeses. So if your favorite grocer isn’t open, you are almost certain to find it at this speciality Albert Heijn.
  • Jumbo Supermarket, Westerstraat, Amsterdam
The same accounts for the Jumbo Supermarket on the Westerstraat. This Jumbo offers some unique products that aren’t so easy to find in regular (discount) grocery stores, just to name a few: Peroni and Vedett beer, super yummy organic bread with sunflower seeds, fresh peeled tiger praws, specialty cold cuts such as carpaccio sausage.

Favourite Restaurants

  • Ristorante Quattro Gatti, Hartenstraat 3, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
I love Chef Milos, he puts much love in every dish he serves and that’s why Quattro Gatti is one of my all-time favourite restaurants in the quaint Nine Streets District in Amsterdam. Chef Milos’ mission is to bring the real Italian cuisine to Amsterdam, and he does it very well! The fresh pasta dishes are fingerlicking good, when in season one must try the fresh ravioli filled with homemade sausage. The thought of it makes me dream about the tender meat and fragrant sage used in this filling. One of my favourite dishes I always ask for is fresh Burrata with fried quail’s eggs and truffle! Ristorante Quattro Gatti is open for lunch from Wednesday to Saturday and for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Reservations are advised.
  • De Echoput, Amersfoortseweg 86, Hoog Soeren, The Netherlands
De Echoput lies amidst 11.000 hectares of the Crown Forest, the original hunting grounds of the Dutch Royal Family. After a massive renovation The Echoput now features a luxurious hotel, a Michelin star restaurant and brasserie as well as a cooking school. The owner of the Echoput mission is to provide excellence in gastronomy and hospitality. After my first visit I put The Echoput on my list of favourites.
